Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ini Ememobong, charged the Federal Government to organise a conference of information commissioners in the country to initiate a communication strategy aimed at ending insecurity and disunity in the country. Ememobong, who stated this during the Seventh Chief O. W. Udoh Memorial Lecture/Dinner /Award night of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Uyo at the weekend, maintained that such initiative would help to keep the unity and oneness of the country intact. He noted that when all the states of the federation continue to see themselves differently and speak with discordant tunes due to insecurity challenges and impunity, there was bound to be dissenting voices, which might result in disagreements and disintegration. xHe, therefore, urged the Federal Government to initiate an all-encompassing well designed communication strategy that would lessen the bitterness of Nigerians in various parts of the country, give them a sense of belonging and hope, as a people of one united country where everyone’s interests are considered. xEarlier, Udoakpan said the dinner after the Annual General Meeting (AGM), was the institute’s annual ritual for self-appraisal and an avenue to strategise for the future.
